“Visualizing the Everyday” features the Slovene artist and cartoonist Žiga Sever who is based in Ljubljana. Ziga created a concept of “Visualizing the Everyday” by drawing page after page in his sketchbook without missing out a single day for more than two years by now. By this, his sketches are a personal archive of his daily life situations: Locations he visits, activities he does, friends he meets or self-portraits. In this video Žiga explains his ideas behind the project and how it affects several aspects of him being in the everyday life: the creation of a memory space, daily routines, perfectionism and appreciation of moments of life.

Elias Günthner is a 29-year-old student of the master’s program in ‚Visual Anthropology‘ at the University of Muenster/Germany. He lives in Freiburg/Germany where he co-founded a cooperative housing project which is part of the ‚Mietshäuser Syndikat‘.

Elias obtained his Bachelor degree in Anthropology at the University of Freiburg/Germany. His B.A. thesis is based on intense fieldwork he conducted in Asuncion/Paraguay in 2019/2020. The project focuses on local graffiti artists and their perception of how they interact with urban space. Elias‘ anthropological interests are located within the field of audio-visual anthropology, concentrating on the spectrum of urban space, housing and gentrification, subculture and public art.

Since his childhood, he has been a passionate skateboarder, turning his attention to filming skateboarding at an early age. His fascination with making skate films and music videos – combined with his interest in anthropological and sociological issues relating to various cultural groups and their everyday life situations in urban areas – contributed to his decision to study visual anthropology.
